I have seen one in the flesh....The fairing looks top heavy & weird. The rear end kinda looks ok.

For a sport bike (I know, I know, it's not really a sport bike) it looks better than most modern iterations. NOW if we were to look at Cafe's of old, then we would be talking. I guess you can tell I'm kind of a "vintage look" guy myself.

I know of a person that use to ride but can't any more because of a serious accident. This person can now walk with a help of a brace on his left leg but is unable ride because he cant shift the gears. He's thinking about getting this bike because of the transmission. If this bike puts him back in the saddle, then I vote awesome! Besides, it has two wheels...

I usually find something to like about pretty much anything on two wheels, but this is just pointless. They should've just had an automatic tranny option for the Dullsville; at least it would be practical and useful. Like duct tape. And just as sexy.

I agree with you completely. I had the opportunity to see one parked on the side of the road here in the UK last year and it looks really odd, you don't know what to make of it. It's lower in total height then you think it would be and looooong. Other than this one I've never seen another outside of a motorcycle show or showroom.

I think that is a great use for this motorcycle if it works for him. But as this is a very special case for the use of the DN-01 I don't know if it would warrent an awesome vote.
But I'm all with ya it would be awesome for him if he does work out.
Automatic transmissions on motorcycles have been tried since the Honda CB250A and CB400A of the early 80's and a few models here and there in the 2000's (like the FJR1300A) but all with mixed successes.

I agree, an auto trans Deauville would have had some point to it.
This transmission is actually pretty slick, it's quite an engineering accomplishment. And I don't so much object to the idea of auto trans bikes being on the market, so long as I have plenty of choice not to buy them
(unlike cars nowadays..
) It's just....... WTF was Honda thinking? $15K for a bike too heavy and too impractical for the only conceivable market it could have had. It's as if Honda
wanted the thing to fail...

First thought: How do you sit on it?
Second thought: It looks sort of like a Street Shark.

I'm arriving late to the party, but I vote "uncool", for much the same reasons as the others who have given it a thumbs down - heavy, expensive, butt-ugly, etc. The automatic transmission is about the only interesting part of the bike, but like others I think it would have been put to better use on another model in the Honda lineup.
I didn't vote "fail" because at least it still has two wheels and an engine.
