Three years ago I locked up the front brake on an SV650; I went one way while the bike went the other. That was painful.

A week ago I *almost* locked it up at a railroad crossing when the warning lights failed and the arms just kind of dropped in front of me; if I'd locked it up the way I did three years ago and launched off the bike the same way, I'd probably be dead due to flying into the side of a train.

Some of us would just be better off all the way around with ABS, and since I'm getting too old to hit the pavement and bounce back up, the next bike will have ABS.

I don't think it should be mandatory, but it would be nice if it were more widely available. I love my Gladius, but it ticks me off that it comes with ABS everywhere but the U.S. So I'm going to wind up selling it just to get the one feature I really wanted to have...

Well, I just learned me something new today... I had no idea the new VMax had that.

Yup, it's absolutely amazing how much tecnology and R&D has gone into the new VMax.

In the coming weeks I will be adding it to the Motorcycle Timeline History Guide, just waiting on photos from Yamaha for the older 80's V-Max's.

I have all the R&D data, history and timeline written up I just need the photos in desktop size. I can create it with the smaller studio V-Max photos I have but I really want to go with TMW standards (big photos) if all possible. :D

Will try to push up the timeline of the V-max and do something next week if possible. :revv:

I've got 3 bikes sitting in the garage with ABS, an '06 and two '10's. All 3 have cruise control and heated grips, 2 have traction control, 1 has suspension you can adjust while on the move, 2 have stereo, 2 have electric windshields, 1 has heated seat, one guages tire pressure, all 3 give you outside temperature. I guess I'd have to say that I'm in favor of all the safety options and comfort options that are available. It certainly doesn't make me less of a biker. It just makes me a safer and more comfortable biker.

My Suzuki V-Strom DL650 has a rear shock adjuster that was absolutely amazingly easly to adjust the shock. All you had to do was to turn the dial (located in an easy to reach spot on the rear of the frame) clockwise or counter-clockwise to softer or firm up the suspension.

While not "high technology" it made adjustments super easy and thus I used it all the time (for example carrying a passenger)

Heh, heh! I've had a V-strom for 4 1/2 years, put 27K miles on it, and haven't touched that dial since the month I bought it. It's in a kind of middle position, works fine for me, and I don't carry passengers. As far as I'm concerned, electric adjustable-on-the-fly suspension is an answer to a question I never asked.
