I've been wearing contacts for over 12 years and have never had an issue with them while riding. Never got grit or anything in my eyes. It does take a bit of getting used to for putting them in. Took a good few weeks. Lol. Grosses my girlfriend out when I put em in or take em out. Lol.
Side note on fogging glasses. I used to wear glasses before I discovered the joys of contacts, and still have to wear prescription safties at worK (arc flashes and very dirty conditions arnt good for contact wearing) and when I used to wear glasses while playing hockey they'd fog up badly. The anti fog you can buy doesn't work well, but what does is dish soap. Just rub a drop on both sides and wipe it off with a tissue and it does a great job keeping you fog free.

I have finally gotten round to having an eyetest & attempting to use contacts.
My decision to sort it out resulted from a late evening ride home with my fella. We went out in afternoon sunshine, but after eating out & meeting up with old bike mates the light was fading fast. We were out of town too & without streetlights for a good part of the ride.
I really noticed the compromise in my vision & thinking ahead to low winter light (sad but soon), I know I need to wear something.
I had a lense fitting last week which was ok, but when it came to me putting them in & taking out I failed !! I had just come of nights & I think my eyes were tired & puffy so they got sore after a few attempts.
Going back for 2nd attempt tomorrow............so wish me

I wear extended wear contacts (wear 'em 30 days and nites,
then toss 'em and put in a new pair) and never had issue one with them.
This drastically limits the amount of time I spend poking and touching my
eyeball. Behind a pair of wrap-around lenses,
they are no different than no contacts as far as wind and dust are
concerned. I usually use the visor on a fullface on the road though. That's
cause I don't like the wind in my face, and to cut down the noise of wind
whipping around the eyeport and the howl it makes. Dust don't bother me
much, but I might have more tolerance for that than most, I work in the same sort
of dusty conditions as Pete mentioned above, but I don't need someone to hold
my purse while I do it. (Sorry Pete, just pullin' your chain. Lol)

You know it, Bud. When I cash it in, there's gonna be Headlines!
Probably mentioning 'clocktower', 'disgruntled', or 'maniac'.........
But whatever it reads, I'll be able to see it coming, thanx to my contacts.
