Thanks all, I'll try putting my foot on the peg while dismounting and we'll see how it goes.

I am 5'7" and ride a BMW GS.

I also do the hop, kick foot thing because of my top box.

I have developed a method of shouting

haiaiaiaiggghhh yyya like Bruce Lee.

Nobody laughs, in fact most won't even look me in the eye

Wow you are flexible I could not do that. Maybe you used to work for a circus? ;)
