Geeze, what happened to all those mellow, laid-back Pacific Northwesterners? I didn't even know Canadians knew how to riot! Y'all up there are acting like us (Philadelphia sports fans are notorious for goon-like behavior; it's a point of civic pride. )

Boy do I remember how it feels. It was only 2004 when the Calgary Flames did the same thing, losing to Tampa Bay Lightning in game 7. But it's not worth setting the city on fire!!!

Hey, at least our rioters and looters have a modicum of decorum, curtosy and respect, I mean after all, they did pull the sofa's they torched out of the shop first before setting them alight so as not to burn down the shop. In the US your lot would of torched the whole block down to the ground. Plus I think it required by law in the US, that you must toss a virgin or few into any riot generated conflagration.

For us in the Lower Mainland, it was shades of '94. Same damn thing happened back then as well, you'ld think the cops and city would of been better prepared. A collegue of mine was downtown at the fan centre. He said that people were joking about having a riot party victory celebration after the win. After the second period, the joking stopped and the mood got really ugly, he left at that point and got out before it exploded. He also reported that for a so-called alcohol free zone, with checks at the gates, there was a lot of booze to be had and it was being drunk openly. The cops should of started shutting things down after the second period ended and cracking down on the drinking.

As for the game, someone must of forgotten to tell the Canucks to show up, coz that sure as hell was not the team who won the Presidents Trophy and handily took the Western Conference. I swear Bettman must of told them to throw the game or he would break their kneecaps.

I saw a story before hand with an official saying he wasn't worried about looting. Lol. Whoops.

Problem is, they usually can't find one. A virgin, that is.

Well that and we have a whole lot more drunken rednecks that tend to try to jump a fire and end up in it. They're more fun to watch anyway, the alcohol helps them catch quicker.

I'm a little late to this thread but living near cambie and 15th in Vancouver we could hear sirens all night and helicopters while watching it unfold on tv knowing it was about a 3 minute drive away. Not a fun night, mostly watching it in disbelief.

There was never any chance I would have been downtown though, I'm an Islanders fan so I only make a trek down to the rink once every two years when they come to town

Now the homeless are squatting in their tents under the guise of the "Occupy" movement.

It could get a bit testy when they get "removed".

As for Luongo.....lately, he's sure not earning the money he gets paid...
