Hi Carlos

:welcome:

Fit is definitely key. For me, Joe Rocket is great for jacket and gloves.

When you're buying, don't look at price... obviously start by looking in your price range but if you don't find anything that fits do not be afraid to spend more!

My first helmet was a gift from a friend. It was not very comfy but I put up with it for a few years as I was a student and just couldn't afford better. I am much happier with my current helmet.

Good luck!

well i took everyone's advise and spend the extra money on the helmet. I got extremely lucky, they were having a closeout sale on Shoei RF 1100. They had one left and it happen to be my size (XXL) solid black. I got a Joe Rocket jacket and for now steel toe toe boots and some leather gloves. I have ridden 25miles on my new bike :)

Is there any reason not to buy a mesh jacket/ventilated other stuff if you're ONLY going to be riding in summer? I could always put a sweatshirt underneath if really needed, right?

Also, I assume helmets fit snugly enough to be hell on new ear piercings, right? (I have a 3-week-old industrial, and will be getting the other side done when this side heals enough to sleep on, so I could be looking at a year or more of touchy ears to work around and am trying to figure that out.)

What about adult diapers like Depends? Am I the only rider that wears them or is it that many other people also wear them but are too ashamed to admit it?

What in the hell does this have to do with buying riding gear?

what you wear is considered part of your biker gear. I was thinking of starting a business that makes a line of adult diapers for bikers, like make them look like leather for an example, the majority of the bikers out there are the growing older baby boom generation and sales of adult diapers are up. Truckers and Cab Drivers wear them, some people need to wear them, some choose to wear them when they don't need them out of convienence.
Just because I talk about an uncomfortable subject does'nt mean I have something to hide and neighter should you, I can understand some of you want to potray yourself as a big tough biker that is tough enough to hold nature when it calls, and I always thought it was considered normal for cross country touring bikers and in motorcycle races to wear adult diapers.
Maybe its you guys that are outta touch instead of insulting me.

Or maybe... just maybe... we all live in a slightly different reality than yours. Either way, if you want to introduce an "uncomfortable" and hardly relevant topic into an existing thread, be prepared for some confusion afterwards from those who are involved.

A better idea would be to create your own thread about said topic, that way the responses - if any - will be more germaine to the discussion you intend to provoke.
