I think the speedo won't be affected as I'm changing the rear tyre, not the front tyre. But thanks for pointing that out anyway

DOH! You're right. Speedo runs off front wheel.

I plan to go with a larger rear sprocket to compensate.

you want to go with a smaller sprocket on the rear to regain acceleration instead of o bigger one.

A larger rear sprocket will increase accelleration and lower top speed. That's what you want to compensate for a larger diameter rear meat.

I've been wondering what the wiggle room is on rim widths for tires.

Some manufacturors discourage anything but the exact fitment. I wonder how many people pay attention to it since different makes of tires of the exact same size may have different rim width specs.

I'm thinking that if a tire is meant for say a 3" rim then going up to a 3.5" rim would be a minor deviation since the beads would only be off (wider)by about .25" on each side.

Going .5" or more wider than spec on each side would make me nervous. Does anybody have experience with this? I'm having trouble finding the exact fitting for my rims and have only found a few specific models
