If you have had a crash, what month did you crash in

I voted November through to March, however it should be noted that at the time of most of my crashes, I was working as motorcycle courier for about four years and dumping your bike was an occupational hazard. Most of my spills were minor although two of them did cause me time off work.

The first one happened when I was actually on the way to a night class after work on my KZ550, I had just turned onto Canada Way off of Boundary and suddenly the bike goes into a violent tank slapper with no warned. I ended up laying of the grass meridian with the bike pinning my left ankle to the curb. Suffered a minor hair line fracture to the ankle and was off work for a week. But I did manage to get the bike back up, ride to class and home again although shifting introduced me to a whole new world of pain. Weather at the time of the crash was wet and cold and the street were slick with rain.

The second and final crash was when some sod in a Ford 1 Ton pick up truck blew through a red light and t-boned me. That one happened on the job, killed my CB650 and left me with a shattered right fibia and tibia which took three years to heal and still causes me grief to this day. That one happened in 1993 and it took me a good 12 years before I could get back on the horse again.

I did have one other crash of note around 1987 or 88 that was not courier work related. I was on the way home from visiting a friend and stopped off at the local corner store to pick up some milk. It was lightly raining at the time and I pulled out of the stores parking lot, across the lane and turned left to go up the street, I figure I gave it a bit too much gas in the turn and the rear wheel lost traction on the plastic painted lane markers and kicked out from under me, depositing me flat on my back. Would of been able to walk away from that one had I not pulled my back muscles a few days earlier trying to stop the bike from tipping over when its side stand started to sink into the heat softened tarmac. Landing on my back finished off the damage I had done earlier and I was off work for a week. I did however learn a healthy respect for lane markings and look at them as if they are gonna jump up and bite me on the bum at any moment.
