"Only" four? Four pubs worth of strong bitter and I'd be on my a$$!!

Sorry but came back from hols straight into party, then nights. Hadn't got round to fininishing holiday tales.
Our final full day was great. I decided to ride pillion partly as I had already achieved my Exmoor riding goals, but mainly because I fancied a wee drink at lunchtime!
We started the ride by going up the private toll road (50p) which is about 4 miles winding up as opposed to the 1/2mile direct incline of Porlock Hill. Someone the night before had said we shouldn't miss it as it was very pretty. It's also used as a rally stage + hill climb route.
Boy!!! Am I glad I didn't take the "easy option" & try & come down it in the wet & dark!
It was single track on a very poor broken surface & actually still quite steep in many parts. Almost the whole route was through trees along side a tumbling burn & consequently had running water across it at various point. Had I tried to come down it on my own I think I would have been off (on my own in dark with no mobile signal)!!
Anyway thankfully the skill of my fella & the sheer grunt (+ weight) of the Rocket got us up safely

We then carried on south along the coast. As this was the opposite direction. & I was on the back it gave me a good chance to admire the glorious views.
After fella wound me up by overtaking downhill on Countisbury Hill despite all the warning signs, we arrived in the pretty seaside town of Lynmouth. This is athe bottom of a very steep gorge (tinternet Lynmouth disaster) & was very busy with tourists, it being the last day of school half term.
I did get to see the famous cliff lift which operates on a counterbalance system. The Victorians were surprisingly energy aware
It's not a great pic, but might give you some idea of the steepness of the hills!

Following Lynmouth we went onto a little place called Combe Martin & had lunch overlooking the harbour. I also had a large vodka (well I was on the back)
Whilst sitting there I had an email from my head of dept about a work matter she was sorting for me. Whilst I expected her to contact me it was a surprise to receive it then
We had hoped to visit a small motorcycle museum but were disappointed to learn that it had closed due to lack of funding.
Our plan was then to get back up onto the top of the moor to get a last look at some of the views. Unfortunately fella turned the wrong way (teminding me again why I now have my own bike), taking us on a long detour.
We did eventually get back up on the top & actually because it was later than planned were treated to a glorious sunset. Sorry no pics as he didn't stop!
Our final stop was the traditional pub at Minehead harbour which had made us welcome throughout the week. It was good to be by the coal fire after a windswept ride but quickly got too hot with all our gear on
After a farewell drink

we took the bike home. I opted to stay in, have a long bath & pack. Fella went back to pub.

Did get a final pic on our last evening outside the pub!
Our ride home the next day went well. It was dry but windy. Every time we have to ride up & over the Dorset hills we seem to pick a windy day!
A mate was having a halloween poarty that night

so it was a great way of catching up with friends although I did get a tiny bit tipsy
