I'm not quite sure what you mean... You asked a question and I answered it...unless there is something I'm missing here....

Ummm, Hyperr has it right. Helps the steering, stronger bars, etc.
And for what it's worth, anything other than bodywork (undertail kits excepted) from an 09 Ninja 650 will also work.

Z1000 is not a sportbike? So what is it? The only thing missing from the Z1000 from being a "sportbike" or whatever you want to call it, are fairings and a windshield. That's what I meant by nitpicking. It is a litre bike no matter how many ways you slice it. The leverage answer was what I was looking for. And how many people would think to put dirt bike handle bars on their litre bike? What other kinds of mods could be made to a bike, any bike, that most wouldn't consider? I come from a 90's street racer background, you could always tell the moneyed noobs by the way they talked about there car. I got this from WingsWest, I got that from blahblah and so forth. Where as a real tuner could fix his car with whatever was at hand, sometimes something not even meant for his car. So, are bikes the same way?

Z1000 to me is a sporty standard or a streetfighter. Regardless the reason I classified it as a non-sportbike was because it was relevant to the correct answer to your question. A sportbike would have clip-ons thus changing it over to a Renthal bar would have a completely different motive and goal. The Z1000 has a regular handlebar just like a standard or a streetfighter, thus changing it to a shortened Renthal would be due to a whole different reason. Since you classified the Z1000 as a sportbike, I only "corrected" you as it was totally relevant to how the question would be answered. People do change the clip ons from their sport bike over to something like a superbike bar or a renthal bar, but that is for a totally different reason. Since you did not provide a link, I'm assuming that the person who owned the Z1000 wanted a lower rise and quicker steering for the twisties or track days.

Now, that makes more sense than calling out someone on a NOOB forum page about something a NOOB wouldn't know about. The article is listed over at motorcycle-usa.com For some reason I tried to put the link in and it wouldn't post the conversation. I didn't know if it was a problem on the forum or the fact I'm on a computer at work. Instead of just saying it isn't a sportbike, explain why it isn't a sportbike on the NOOB forum page. I probably will never ride a "sportbike" because I don't like them I prefer no windshields. I don't know what clip-ons are because it never came up in all my research for motorcycles because I'm not a fan of sportbikes. Of course, you could spend your entire life researching motorcycles and still miss something, especially if you have no one around who likes to ride or if you have a large number of people that are actively trying to stop you from riding. THen there are the people who treat you like an idiot because you don't know what they know about a subject and try to ask questions only to get dissed on or looked down on for not knowing. That is why I came to the NOOB page to ask questions about what kind of mods could be done to a bike that aren't purchased off the shelf. You'd be surprised what I can do to a car with a handful of zip-ties in a pinch. Thanks for clearing that up though.

Clip ons are two piece handlebars that mount to each individual forks. "Sportbikes" have that style of handlebars as stock equipment.
