The Honda Shadows are pretty comfy for a short rider. I'm not sure how the newer ones measure out, but my '04 Aero 750 is well suited to my 5'3" frame. I imagine that 5'8" is the upper limit on this bike. It's comfortable enough for distance riding (I've done several 500 mile days on it) and has great fuel economy when I behave. It's got wide handlebars, forwardish controls, and a big seat. With the wide handbars and fat front tire, it does steer a bit like a pig in comparison to the early 80's model CB650 I had previously. In spite of the bus-like steering, she's lots of fun in the mountains.
Taking up a workout that focuses on core body strength helps a lot, too. I noticed a huge difference in riding comfort and overall posture for the time I was doing Pilates. I don't have time for that, now, so when I need to toughen up I take the windshield off for a week.
I can't speak for passengers, as I removed the back seat immediately after purchase.

Thanks a lot for input... I might look into the Honda Shadow. Plenty of them around and very reliable...
