Just out of curiosity, have you considered doing custom moldings? I briefly toyed with the idea of recreating the side covers on my Magna, using dental amalgamate and plaster to create the mold, and I thought I'd try to 'build up' some sort of graphic or effect with modeling clay before the final mold.
Ultimately, I decided it was too much of a project to undertake. A buddy of mine and I used to make realistic vampire fangs for the hanted houses locally, using amalgamate and plaster, but I found the process didn't easily translate.

When you say custom covers? Are you meaning one off's or the Honda Custom ranges of side covers?
In my mind i have a bike... I have many bikes.. But i have not the funds to have that many bikes...
