The 1200gs handles just like a 650 on steroids. Love the bike, ABS is a real strong plus for me. Put in some PIAA (sp) headlights with a modulator, can't nobody say they don't see me coming. Actually had a couple cars pull over for us out on a county road. Looking forward to getting it out for a weekend trip, maybe next weekend.

From what I know of GS riders that I ride with, they tell that they never get to the limits of that machine, each time they think they have, they move on to another level.

Hey, hidethesky, did you end up with the Breva after?
It was/is my first bike, and I have zero regrets - couldn't have been happier in fact

Yes I did. And I love it. I think it's matched to the type of riding I'm going to be doing (mostly in traffic) and matched to my ability (rank amateur).

Good choice. I had never ridden one until this weekend and I was duly impressed. Handling was excellent and the power band was just huge. It started pulling smartly (but not explosively) at 3k rpm and just kept gradually pulling harder to redline. I'll bet a dyno chart on that engine would look like a straight 45 degree line. Excellent characteristics for a first bike.
