I like to flash my foot brake as I approach any situation that might put a car into my seat from behind.

Your entire post is great, but this is one of the most underused techniques. I use it whenever I'm using heavy engine braking, such as down a hill. You have to communicate to the cager behind you, who has never driven anything but automatics in their life and don't understand you can slow down without using the brakes.

Speaking of Flashing....

If I'm approaching an intersection & there is a Suspect Vehicle* there who should GIVE WAY & possibly wont, then I BLAST FULL BEAM headlights at them for a split second & they tend to get the message. They usually FREEZE after doing this.

This little trick has saved me from a potentially dangerous situation on countless occasions.

*Suspect vehicle: A vehicle who should be stopping but continues to roll.
oR THE OCCUPANT IS not looking IN YOU DIRECTION but should be! etc.

Someone brought up an intresting point, or so I thought, don't allow someone to tailgate you either. Most likely you can stop much quicker and in a shorter distance than they can even if they happen to be paying attention. Either speed up or slow down or pull over, tell them they are N0.1 etc. But don't let someone in a cage ruin your day.

I also weave the bike from side to side in the lane as I approach, especially if there is a larger vehicle behind me. Often the cager is focused on the larger target and may not see you as they prepare to launch across the intersection to beat the traffic; by "wiggling" the bike it draws their attention to you and, hopefully, they won't move.

As added insurance when you approach any intersection with waiting cross traffic, you should be watching the front wheels of the cars - not the eyes of the occupants. You may think they're looking right AT you but sometimes they are actually looking THROUGH you because you haven't registered in their tiny brains yet. If you see their front wheels start to move as you approach, that is your first and only indication that they're going to pull out right in front of you.

I meant to add it before but didn't, that's right, this is a GREAT little lifesaver.... Look at the front wheel of the vehicle as stated above!
