well when you post something on ebay it is a contract you agree to. if a seller is so easy to break a legal contract with ebay and sell the item outside of ebay they are not very trust worthy. whos to say they wont scam me and i have no way to prove our deal out side of ebay. its risky and braking a binding contract.

I agree with Iwannadie to a point. I've contacted a seller only once in 7years and asked them to end the auction early. BUT, he had reserved the right to sell the item locally on the webpage so I don't think he was breaking their rules. It was for a luggage rack for my 32 year-old bike that I'd been searching for for months - just so happened he lived 30 minutes from me. Score!

If no bids are on the item, then I would contact the seller and ask if he/she would be willing to sell, actually, I have done so. But if there have been any bids, then I wouldn't. I wouldn't want it done to me if I placed a bid and as in the real world, I try to treat those how I want to be treated...Fair. As for bidding at the last minute or even seconds, I do it all the time and would expect another to do so. Afterall, it's a competition and it's up to me to determine how much I want to pay for an item. But to screw someone out of something sneeky handed, I can't do. I try to be a bit more ethical than the rest of this sleazy and greedy society we live in.
