Yeah, I was a little nervous at first, but it didn't take long to knock 6 years worth of dust off the old riding skills. I think it helped that I took some of the most challenging roads imaginable for motorcycles back home from San Fran when I bought the bike. 
The Dragon in NC ain't got nuthin on Quimby Road on the east side of San Jose. I think it's something like a 15% grade with hairpin switchbacks all the way up the side of a mountain heading toward Mt. Hamilton, and the Lick Observatory. Fun road! No guardrails, either.
