Its in the same thing in maine bassically.. you have to pay $60.00 and take a MSF course (8 Hours course with a 50 question test at the end of the day).. pretty simply stuff, yet I was unaware of alot of it. but yea.. you gotta do that before you can get your permitt.. then if you want your class-i you gotta pay another $10 and take a road test

My experience was similar to Mr_X 's, but it cost $90 and gives you a full endorsement. Same course though.

I'm not a huge safety nut, but I'm glad I took the class anyway. My friend also did it. It teaches good stuff.

I wish the regular driving tests were like this but no... any airhead little kid and their cellphone is qualified to operate a thousand pound chunk of speeding death. Yay.

Yes they cover all the basics so you dont get hurt.. and they went into some defensive driving and what to do, what you should wear.. they coverd it all in a classroom.. I had never ridden a motorcycle and from what I learnd I just hopped on that 1100 and test drove it with absolutly no problem (Besides stalling it out in 3rd gear because I forgot to down shift at a light).. but that was it..

Have fun waiting til you are 21 then ...

Or you could take 10 minutes and do a little research. I don't know where you live, but the most expensive course I found in Florida is $250.

If you can't afford $250 for a course, how are you going to afford gear (or a bike for that matter.)

And if you don't have the willingness to take a course that could potentially save your life, You probably don't need to be on a bike anyway.

I don't speak for the rest of the folks on the forum, but there's one thing I know - If I had to pay $500 and get up early to drive to a course that would allow me to ride a Motorcycle legally in my state, I'd be saving my money so I could do it at the first possible opportunity.

But I guess it's just not worth it eh?

Big +1

Doesn't sound like you even want to ride... I think it is pretty funny that your way of dealing with the situation is complaining and whining and not doing some research. How can you not have $250 but the money for gear and a bike.

I think it might be a good thing if the "State of Florida" could send certain individuals off to war.

#1 It's not $500 - and besides, if you don't have $500 WHAT would you ride?

#2 If your desire to ride isn't any stronger than that you're not going to be very good at it anyway.

#3 There's a way to do this. There are obstacles in the way. Overcome the obstacles and you'll be able to do it... just like anything else.

DAMN KIDS!

this is exactly my point. If a 16 year old kid doesnt even understand the concept of responsibility, they shouldnt be allowed to operate a motor vehicle, let alone a motorcycle. Some kids dont understand the reason why there are rules in place. Like I said before, I was one of them..
