Well, I guess I'm lucky to have always lived in relatively dust-free climates. I'm not gonna worry about this or lose any sleep over it, either. It could be argued that the testing was slanted toward AC Delco. They used to do things like this back in the '60's when I worked for them. It's amazing how numbers can be manipulated. How many of these brands make bike air filters, anyway?

And it should be mentioned that I use UNI Pod style airfilters on my xj650, and just had to retune a bit - using a dyno and an Exhaust gas analyzer, I was able to get the bike running at optimal without rejetting.
The article was just an FYI. There are plenty of people on the BMW airheads list who have sworn up and down that they have seen the ill-effects of longterm K&N usage. I think if you keep them clean and well-oiled, you'd probably be ok, but if you live in a dusty environment, the paper filter may still be the best way to go.
