Thanks, but I think I'm going to hold onto the bags. I'm going to put them back on if I do any overnight trips.
Ron, I'll post a close-up of the bars in the next couple of days.

I really dig the bike. You did an excellent job. I think it will look good when you put the hardbags on too.
I always love seeing pics of people fixing up their bikes! It gives me motivation to work on my KZ... I really need to paint it, just sooo lazy.

Yeah, I think it will look good with the bags on.
I also have a small cafe fairing that is the same black colour as the bags. I'll be putting it on along with the bags for any longer rides. They should look pretty good together.

Man I love what you've done with an already great looking bike. Why don't the manufacturers get a clue?
BTW I've been considering wrapping the exhaust just as you have done if I don't sell the CBX550. Is it reversible? Any problems? Yours definitely has cred. Great price on the bike too.

The exhaust wrap was a bit of challenge to get right. If I were to do it again I'd take the pipes off the bike.
And I would start at the bottom instead of top, so it'd overlapp from the top down. It is held in place with hose clamps and can be reversed pretty easily.
I installed it because, while I think the pipes looked good and they weigh about 1/4 of original, they are somewhat low quality and blued instantly and were getting a bit of surface rust. The wrap covered it all up and looks much better.
It is also suppose to increase effiency a bit. Less heat lost through the pipes allows the exhaust to exit quicker. Or so they say.
I was also fiddling with my carbs the day I wrapped the exhaust. I did notice more bottom and midrange, but was it due to the exhaust wrap or carbs, or both?
An added bonus, it smells like cupcakes when its heated up.
