Im not a coffee drinker, I do like the tea at Timmies though, and if I drink it too fast, I get a tad jittery. I did over do those little pink "WakeUp" pills once, took 2 (recommended dosage is 2 per 4 hours I believe) then about a half hour after took 3 more, then another 3 about 15 min later. After that I felt shakey, sweaty and like i was going to puke. I actually had to go home from work (night shift, explains the the drowsiness) I have not taken them since.

What are the symptoms of caffeine overdose?

Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system and can produce a variety of effects elsewhere in the body. The symptoms of a caffeine overdose ("caffeinism") will vary, according to individual differences and the amount consumed. Doses ranging from 250 to 750 mg (2 to 7 cups of coffee or tablets of NoDoz) can produce restlessness, diziness nausea, headache, tense muscles, sleep disturbances, and irregular heart beats. Doses of over 750 mg (7 cups of coffee) can produce all of the above as well as a reaction similar to an anxiety attack, including delirium, drowsiness, ringing ears, diarrhea, vomiting, light flashes, difficulty breathing, convulsions (extreme overdose). These amounts of caffeine may come from a single dose or from multiple doses at short intervals. Besides caffeine's effects, the essential oils of coffee may cause gastrointestinal irritation and diarrhea, and the high tannin content of tea can result in constipation.

Not 10 minutes ago I read a new study saying how great coffee is for youi!? Apparently coffee has the highest concentration of antioxidants of any food or drink by far. So you see like most things it is both good and bad for you. Coffee in the morning is a sacred ritual and personnaly anyone who doesn't like coffee isn't to be trusted.

No such thing as too much coffee. It tastes soooo good. When I lived with this Italian woman, she made these shots of expresso - The first time I ever had one, I seriously felt like I was going to have a heart attack. After a couple of weeks, I'd be having expresso with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The coffee in Italy was very tasty too! In Naples, I had this expresso with chocolate dripped all over the rim. I only wish they made coffee like that over here, not that nasty crud Starbucks brews. [/b]

I used to drink 16 cups of coffee a day (or thereabouts). Nobody told me it was bad for me when I was a kid. (Or maybe they did, but I didn't believe them. I can't remember. OK, I can. I didn't believe them.) When I started getting palpitations, the GP prescribed beta blockers.

How much is safe depends on how well you can metablolise the stuff. what time of day you drink it and how long you have had the habit.

How much is good for you: none.

I went through a phase some time ago of practically living on Caffiene - I was only sleeping an average of 2 hours per night so had RIDUICULOUS amounts to keep myself awake. I know, it was a vicious cycle, but i was generally non-stop from 6am right up to 3-4am the next day. Was having about 20-30 cups of coffee a day, and taking lots of Red-Bull (caffiene/taurine energy drink) as well as Pro-Plus tablets (concentrated caffiene tablets). Didnt really have any major bad side effects, but there did come a time where i realised i needed to cut down. Now i just have about 5-6 cups of coffee a day at work (mainly because the tea from the machine is nasty) and dont have the tabs or energy drinks anymore.
Don't give up.

Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.

If you never give up, you can never truly fail.

Couldn't live without the stuff. I like it strong. I have cut back to one cup a day - never more than two.

I like coffee as well...a lot...ITs gotta be STRONG though, so it ain;t like the water they washed the beans in....I like ESPRESSO also (DON'T call it expresso) , it is the perfect companion to a few too many cigarettes......heheheee

<not like you care, or wanted to know, but just in case....hjahaha
If you like cofee, but can't drink it, or want something different, there is a tea called Yerba Mate which is consumed thoughout South America which might be of interest.
When its brewed strong enough it is almost coffee like, very dark 'green' flavor...tastes like green tea with much more body....it contains a chemical relative of caffiene called matiene (which is much less harmful to sensitives), as well as many other chemicals which act nicely together and have been proven of low toxicity...gooooooood buzzzzzzzzzzzz. It does not have the bad side effects of cofee... Though it is verra, i mean VERRA speedy if taken at high doses. It is also and appetite suppresant and a moderate male stimulant.

I used to drink prodigious amounts of coffee. A couple of years ago I suddenly could only tolerate 2 cups in the am; any more and I felt like I was walking around with a terrible hangover. Now I sneak one in during the afternoon sometimes but its risky since I might not sleep well.

I love coffee and I drink the real stuff not that namby-pamby folgers etc... real freshly ground arabica. Caffeine is too strong for me though. I guess I'm getting old in my 30's since even a diet coke in the evening will keep me up half the night.

When I was in my early 20's and freshly sober I would sit up late at the coffee shop shooting the s##t with chicks and drinking pots and pots of coffee. I never made the connection as to why I felt so jittery and couldn't sleep well till years later.
The only time I feel any real catharsis is on a MOTORCYCLE!

Coffee in Naples is Good ... espresso everywhere you go.

Hell, even at the motorcycle dealerships and the auto parts places you get offered an espresso. If they don't have an in-house espresso machine (usually they do) they call up the bar next door (there's always a bar within walking distance) and someone comes over with a tray full of coffee.

You gotta be careful here .. you could wind up w/ the jitters way too easily

I never bother with all this making in the cup or pot nonsense. I take my coffee intravenously. :)
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
