Analog wrote:Awesome... I keep hearing good stuff about the bike... Hopefully next year, my financial situation will let me grab one up... sounds like I should shoot for the '05 model...

Have you had any problems regarding the fuel injection system? That's the only negative thing I've read about them in reviews/....

No, I have not had any problems with the bike so far.
Maybe I am not very demanding but the bike offers me more than I need in terms of power.
I am not totally new to the bikes. Started about 25 years ago, was riding for about 5 years and then had a break untill my son grew up and bought used GS-450 a year ago.
Trying to be always in control I have not reved the FZ6 above 9000 rpm yet and the people say the most fun starts above that. I am not ready to go there yet...
I understand that FZ1 is probably a better value, but not better value for the money (it costs much more).
Also FZ1 '05 model is carburated. I concider the carbs to be bike's yesterday. We can debate, of course, what's really better, but how many modern cars now have carburators? I do not know any. Sooner or later all the bikes will move away from the carbs for sure. Why wait?
The other thing is underseat exost which has the catalitic converter (we do care about environment - don't we) and located right in the middle of the bike. This probably keeps the weight distributed close to the center of gravity which definatelly helps to handle the bike. I did notice some heat comming from the vertical part of the exost pipe being in stand-still traffic and 100 degrees outside, but not something that I could not tolerate.

The 06's come in shift red and the blue with a blacked out motor (looks very cool)I don't think you can get in the silver any more 04 and 05. It might be I'm a little biast but mine is the silver and I think it is really the coolest. I've had many possitive comments on it. We all know the colour has nothing to do with how the bike handles but it does make for a very appealling Bike. I have read all the posts so far and I think I made the right choice. I have had no problems with the EFI so far. The bike handles exsteamlly well and the brakes work even better as I found out today. It's very comfortable and I'm looking forward to a long ride (over 4 hrs). I find the longer I Ride the more I enjoy.

My brother has a 2005 FZ6.

What I like:
The fuel injection is great. Very smooth.
Wonderfully smooth transmission.
Plenty of power. (Why do they make an FZ1?)
Comfortable seating.
The 180mm rear tire looks and feels great. Very stable, and agile bike.
Beautiful bike!
The under seat exhaust looks cool, but...

What I don't like:
The under seat exhaust takes away from the sound of the bike. Sounds lame in my opinion.
There is absolutely no helmet lock.
No under seat storage. Even if you can cram something under there, it will get wet.
The dash display is awful! Especially the tachometer. Very difficult to see.

I got a Blue 05 FZ6. I Love It!!!! Bought it as my first bike and couldn't be happier. I'm really into the sportbikes so eventually I'll probably upgrade, but this bike has plenty of power for me, plus it's comfortable enough to ride. Sometimes I would like the more aggressive riding position, but for the commuting I do on it, I like the upright riding position. I haven't had any problems with it at all. All in all I'm very happy with my choice.
