Only concern on 1100cc is the weight which is around 600lbs. This gonna be a lot difficult for slow speed and on the high traffic area. You live in rural area then you might not have to worry about it much.

The power on 1100cc isn't much more than 650cc but it accelerate faster and you can feel the power all the time. You have to make sure to pratice on throttle a lot. Pratice a lot on slow speed, u-turn, 8 figure, and quick stop and you should be fine.

This is the sound fm your little bros , I am only 36, 5.7' and 160lbs with 650cc Custom which weight only 470lbs. I like my bike and think it is suit me the best. I long for 1100cc as well becuz I alway ride on FWY at speed 80mph but 1100cc kind of too big for me to handle on heave traffic and cayon road beside I only ride for 3 months and 4,000miles

Maybe you should look into the Suzuki c50 instead. Save yourself 2 grand and 60 +pounds.
pleanty of horsepower and rides nice.

If your riding with someone, you don't want to cause them any issues with an over powered to under skilled rider. You dont want to end up in the outhouse.

I think you do fine with the 1100 V star I got the Suzuki Volusia 800 now the C 50 and Im 5 8" 180 and I been riding for 10 months took the class that was the reason I ride my bike with no problem I put 7000 miles on it, try to ride your bike as much as you can for the first 3 months and you will be all right and if you are going to ride with someone in the back seat put at lease 3000 to 4000 miles before you do.good luck with your new 1100 V star.

i dont get why people want the biggest bike(engine size) when they have no intent to use the power. if you plan to do the speed limit why get a 1000cc+ bike? if its the actual size of the bike thats the concern, you can get after market parts for any bike to change the ride position. if you want to stretch your legs a bit then get some new forward controls or cruising pegs? bars to close/low get new bars/risers?

besides its not like your sitting on a lazyboy, comfort should be an issue but not The deciding factor i think at least. safety should come first, being on an un-needed over powerd bike is off on the wrong foot. then get a bike that will meet your needs. if you plan to stay the speed limit why get something that can go way beyond that? it becomes a waste of performance that you paid for or worse, it will get you in serious trouble.

then just imagine the gas if no thing else. a 1100 will suck more fuel than a 600 will.

bottom line is youll buy what you want, but why bother to ask here if your already set on getting the bigger bike.
