Cafe is also a good way to go, and my second choice. You may be the only one on your block with an inline 4 cafe racer, but you'd be the only guy in your entire postal code with a hybrid 4 banger streettracker.
Either way, your not very likely to see a clone of your bike at many traffic lights.

Mine always end up as non-black rat bikes.

Another prerequisite for a rat bike is caked dirt and mud on it. You must not clean them! Then your just a poser.
Check out ratbike.org like TechBMW stated. Great website.

that's what I originally thought too but:

is that it?
I should do that, farther from eyesight, lower cg, and it won't drool all over my nicely powdercoated frame.

The rider of the "ratfighter" looks like a good match to his bike
of course if you want a streetfighter just look at the current crop of naked bikes. They copy the streetfighter look pretty closely.
A flat black streetfighter would definately be cool though.
I know of a ratbike that does cruise around Cheyenne. Its an old CB something or other 4 cylinder painted flat black, has pennies glued to the tank, has been christened "hardly a davidson", buckhorn bars, sheepskin seat, no fenders, and no muffler at all (it was cut off right at the header collector)
