That is really ugly, Garry. Sometimes there's no limit to the treachery and heartlessness of family when there's a buck to be squabbled over.

Even though I know what you're saying, and know it really does happen this way sometimes, the living will, and last will and testament are important. Without that, it is assured that people will fight over your wishes and stuff after you can say no more.

A living will would have settled it, but how could you predict that an eating disorder would have done this at her young age?

Does anyone here have a living will? Do you have a clause in it incase something like this happens to you?

Even though I ride a motorcycle (somewhat risky) I don't have a living will... yet.

I think we tend to delay these kinds of things until about 50 or so. At least that's how it was for me. Why would you devote much energy to a living will when you are never sick? I have had one, in the form of advance directive, for quite a few years, and it really is a good idea at any age. Even a bike accident could put you in a position of needing one.
Increased awareness is about the only good thing coming out of the Shiavo case. Mostly, it's disgusting, and in a way I feel for her parents and family, as they are entirely misguided. Ask any doctor.

that is why all i am leaving is a bunch of guns so maybe the loving vultures in my family can shoot each other while arguing about dividing my estate.
