I vote scam. Won't hurt anything to try to call I guess. But I don't see how the potential scammer expects to make any money if he can't be reached though - something seems funny. Maybe a typo in the phone #? seems like they could get a good bit more than that in an auction or on consignment. Who knows - once in a while there realy is a good deal out there, but this one sends up the old red flags.

I agree. This is waaaay to far into the "too good to be true" zone to be a real deal. Something smells fishy to me.

Or he needs the money to pay a bunch of bills...Did he answer your e-mail? See if you can dig him up in the phone book if he does, and gives you his name. It's cheap enough to do a little leg work, just in case..is there a VIN #?

nah, no vin # is listed, the phone # seems right since hes in manhattan. he hasnt written back and i dont expect him to. cant dig him up at all, its from monkeyad.com and all you get to do is send the user an email(or call) and hope he writes you back. doubtful. im not thinking about it anymore to be honest

I picked up my bike on craigslist a few months ago, and believe me all of those listings for $1000 superbikes are bull. Save yourself the trouble.

well after this person getting back to me its GOTTA be a load of cow dung. even though the bike is only 30-40 miles from my house this woman claims she is out of the country having financial problems. hmm, gee, thats always great to hear. she doesnt know when she'll be back so she wants me to go through a 3rd party to purchase the bike and they will deliver it after payment.

anyhow, at first i told her to forget it, then i reiterated and told her ill wait for her to come back and ill see it in person. with that she wrote me back and i quote "whats the problem?" i then wrote "who would buy a bike w/out seeing it in person?" this next excerpt is what i got from her today.

i wasnt rude in my reply to this and who knows, maybe the TNT company is even legit due to my ignorance but again, sorry, im not buyin spit without knowing what im getting into. i just figured it might be worth checking out for sh!ts and giggles, you know?

That is the most common form of the "bike for sale" scam. You send the money to a 3rd party (TNT, whoever that is) and they promise they'll send you a bike. You'll never see either again.

Basic logic tells you that you don't hand over a pile of money without getting something in return (other than a promise from someone you don't know). They only way these scams work is by preying on greedy people who will suspend logic in hopes of getting a cool bike for next to nothing.

It doesn't get much more obvious than this one.
