Just one question, Ron....when's the last time you actually rode your motorcycle?

Looks great! Keep up the good work! Oh and, buy another bike so you can ride between coats of paint!

Tell me about it! It's been in the high 40's here, so "pleasure riding" is less pleasureable. I've been a little under the weather, too. That's why this is taking so long. Now I have to wait for paint to cure (takes longer in the cold...using enamel this time), so I probably blew the weekend, too. It's cold right now again..just got that primer on before it dropped out of the spray window. Still, the other day I took a big can of new polyester filler for a nice ride in the country. Every time I go out, I take the long way home...that doesn't get the project done either. I do wish I had a rat bike..like a kz400 or something to bomb around on. Dreamin' again. I got this bike in Augast of last year..put it on the road Aug 31. I've put a little over 10,000 miles on it since then, and never liked the paintjob  . Always saw it all black. BTW the silver was hiding many defects that I am taking out, so that's taking more time, too. The time has come to act, and I really need to get it done so I don't miss any more good riding...the other day it was 65 and sunny...perfect. Please feel sorry for me...it's a sickness.
Ride safe...God bless!

I feel ya, Ron. Luckily my dad has a nice heated 4-car garage in which I can work on my bike over the winter. Since it'd just be winterized and put away anyhow I decided to rip the rearend off and perform some swingarm and rear drive maintenance as well as adding a Zerk fitting so future disassembly will be unnecessary. In addition to the rearend being torn apart, I will be removing the gas tank so I can install a fuel-injection processor and an air kit, and so I can flush out the radiator and change the antifreeze. I also hope to install a new exhaust, replace all the brake hoses with steel-braided units, and upgrade to EBC sintered metal pads. I'll have about four months to purchase and install everything so hopefully the bike will emerge this Spring a little better than before. Unfortunately for you, painting is not something you can do very easily over the winter so you're kinda stuck trading good riding weather for good painting weather. Oh well, it'll all seem worth it next season, right? :)

I just finished for the night. My idea for using the taillight as a license plate light isn't going to work. No tire clearance for the plate. I need to mount the plate on the swingarm, now, and find out what the legal requirements are if I ride in the day for awhile. It would really stink if I have to put it on the back due to some obscure Missouri law. If so, it'll add a few inches to the back and kindof undo the look I want. If I can tilt it, and put it above the wheel, that would be okay..just have to see...this is like thinking outloud. 8) as it is, the bike is taking on a definite stealth persona. The tail looks like the stealth bomber nose, and the black paint is really making it look swept forward to the wide bars (due to the mirrors). I'm also going to check and see if I need the right side mirror, legally.

I think it's gonna be pretty tough to argue with that burnout pic...regardless of apparent color. 8)

Purple is the worst though......

Cofession time...The local independent shop I buy stuff at had a huge lot of gloves he bought somewhere. Retaill price..$65. All leather, extra leatherpadding on knuckles, tops of fingers, palms...tight gauntlet style with wide velcro closeres that really work. They just didn't sell, and he bought the lot. Color? Black...and purple. Guess what, Acetone dilutes purple dye! The areas are now dark maroon, and almost look brown up close. Hardly show at all on the bike...looking more like old school brown. Why would I buy such things? $17.99, plus acetone (had that already) and elbow grease. Great gloves.
