yeah, you dont have to spend a bajillion dollars on one....my hjc flippy fits me perfect all around, and is very comfortable and resonably quiet. It is poor in sub 50F temps though...i bet thats were the $$ venting comes in.

True, helmet standards of production are getting better. Consider fit AND comfort; in particular, ventilation. The more individual vents, each with thier own control, the better. My first helmet was great in all other aspects. But shortly after that purchase, I realized that I wished I had spent the extra bucks to get more ventilation.

I've only ever tried on a Shoei and it felt a perfect fit, it was very comfortable and light and I liked the design, so that's what I bought. I've got an XR-1000 TC-5 Diabolic.

Buy the best you can afford. A brain is a horrible thing to waste.
BTW: Its my second favorite organ.
