If you are serious about that bike, get them to put it on the dyno and check it against the specs.

After reading all of your posts I decided to pass on this bike. I have already ridden a friend friend's bike (250cc and 500cc) over the summer, and quite frankly, it just doesn't have enough juice in it to make me feel that I'm having fun riding the bike. I do not plan on riding the bike for looks. I want to ride for fun SAFELY! I'm still looking around for more bikes in the CT region using craigslist, etc. Not too many bikers that I know that I could ask around. But, I'm continuing to look. Maybe I should've included more information in my initial post (my fault). I just wanted to know whether that bike was a good deal or not? I have absolutely no idea what makes one bike better from another. All I know is that when I ride a bike, I like to have a good feelin riding it. After test riding the GSX R 600, I got that feeling. I plan on getting a bike for long term use. I'm 24, I'm sure that by the time I get married (26-27), I will have to get rid of this bike, so I want to enjoy my freedom as long as I can. If I see anymore deals, I will def. post back here again for your opinions.

Why bother?? It takes years to become truly proficient on a motorcycle. If the type of riding you will do is too dangerous to do after your married, its damn well too dangerous to do now. Think about it...

Sure people can learn on a supersport 600, but they make it harder on themselves and more dangerous. On top of being more difficult and dangerous, it will likely cost you alot more. So, if you just cant live without a supersport 600 for a first bike, by all means purchase it. Just know you will be riding on egg shells hoping you wont wreck, rather than learning how to ride proficiently.

I think it sounds like a ok deal though...I think the whole argument about wether a new rider should buy a Sports 600, I think it depends on the indevidual

Im married and 26 and I am just now getting my first bike. My first bike is a used 500cc UJM that I got for cheap. I am planning on a sportbike for my second bike. Just because you are married does not mean your life is over

Jules recently said that if I got rid of the bikes because of her she'd leave me.

There are certain parts of my life that are part of who I am and if I stop doing them then I will be miserable. My bike is definately a part of who I am.

Next spring I am putting the 250 or 400 on the road, because of costs I am going to have to sell my beloved 125 on and I am really going to miss her.

If she truely loves you she will let you ride because it will be a part of you in ways I dont have the languge skills to describe.

Loonette and I are damn lucky. Neither one of us would compromise on the bike ownership thing, so accordingly, we will always have at least a bike to share - and more likely two bikes so we don't have to fight over one. I'm glad I don't have to face the " its me or the bike " attitude.

I think you guys have convinved me that I should not have gotten the gsixxr. Although, one thing I am not convinced is that I should be riding a 250cc. When I rode that bike, I felt I was riding a scooter or somethin.. But this time when I look out for a bike, I will def. go for something close to a 500cc but less than the gsixxer.
