geez you guys are friendly. lol but im from sacramento i'm really thinking about getting a kawasaki ninja 250. i've heard it was a really good beginner bike. so you guys reccomend i take the permit test before i take the MSF course ?

i'm also a beginner, finished the msf course just last week....getting a ninja 500 tormorrow....i heard the 250 is also really good but like i said, i'm a beginner so i don know much (about bikes )....one thing though.....if you are getting a used one, check here for the price first so you don't get ripped off: (one of my friend's friend was just starting out too, went to a private sale...they 'tried' to sell her a $700 bike for $4,200!)

the ninja i'm getting is in perfect condition, he's selling it for $3,995.

Kudos to all who take the MSF course. I successfully completed it in June 2005 and now have the M class certification on my Illinois license.

However, I still have not pulled the trigger and bought a bike. It is an incredibly hard decision to make: new or used; 250, 650 or 750; to buy American or not to buy American.... My current thoughts are to buy a used 250, perhaps a Rebel, on which to hone my skills before stepping up to a larger machine. Everyones' thoughts will be welcome.

Depends on your height/weight. If you're built like Sevulturus, a Rebel should fit nicely. But if you're built like me you might want to shop in the grown-up section!

man i cant wait till the class. i have soo much time to kill. i got in ,and there was only 2 spots left ,so i could of been waiting longer. i picked up the little pamplet from the dmv so i can learn some of the basic laws and stuff. all good stuf to know. well i cant wait

Dude I dont think he is being a jerk, I sat on those bikes if you are the wrong size or weight it hurts alot to sit on those bikes and you getr very uncomfortable in less then a minute!

Awww, c'mon Man...I had no idea about your stature until your recent post. No wonder you feel the way you do about big bikes. I mean, you're 5'8" and only weigh 120lbs??? Maybe you meant kilos or something because my ex-wife is 5'4" tall and SHE weighs 120lbs, and she's just a dainty little thing. You're four inches taller and weigh the same as her???

I think that you would like a Kawasaki 250 Ninja

I am right at 6 feet tall and a nice round 240 pounds (I'm in shape...round is a shape) and had a Kawasaki EX250 Ninja that I bought and it made a real nice in town and back roads bike. It was able to do battle on the Interstate and would cruise at 70, but the bike would be blown about a good bit by passing trucks so I usually avoided the Interstate if I could.

I really liked the bike and kept it as I acquired a couple more bikes because it was a lot of fun to ride. Then...the wife said I needed to sell it due to lack of storage space and I didn't need 3 bikes since I couldn't ride but one at a time and that I was NOT to bother her anymore about learning to ride a bike as she was content to ride on the back of mine.
