what chain to stop a bike getting stolen.

I feel the need to reiterate the question about how you are going to find something to lock your bike to in every occasion... or where you are going to keep the chain while you are riding.

Hi everyone. We just recently had our Carson 5x10 enclosed single-axle Toad Town Racing stolen

with both roadrace motorcycles inside. We wish we had installed lojack on the trailer and/or the motorcycles. There was a (supposedly) uncuttable lock on the ball connector and uncuttable locks on the door. It was picked up and pivoted, then towed away. I've heard that the more locks and complications thieves encounter may deter them from stealing your stuff but if they want it, they're going to take it. Just wanted to mention lojack is available for motorcycles and dealer information is available at http://www.lojack.com/find-a-dealer/mot ... _index.cfm. At least if they do ever steal your bike, it will be found quickly. You know they can just ride or drive around stolen stuff until they break the law; like stealing isn't enough, they have to break the law AGAIN for the Police to notice that what they're driving or towing is stolen.

anyone watch 2wheel tuesday...they did a big expose on bike thiefs and bottom line is if they want it its theirs...no matter what you lock it up with...they did say they would never go into a garage...to easy to get shot...and big bike events, dark parking lots, and trailers are their targets...my solution...ride something noone in their right mind would want to steal.

I use the biggest guage kryptonite cable (about as big around as my thumb) and loop it through the rear wheel or through the frame and use one with a lock on it to secure that cable to a steel beam that holds up the carport.

Bolt cutters will only mash these types of cables and makes it really hard going for those SOB's that can't seem to keep their hands off... However, I'll let loose a secret here: a hacksaw will go through these cables like they were cheese. So a heavy duty chain wrapped in a plastic sleeve could function as a back up. I figure most thieves won't carry both a hacksaw and the extremely large bolt-cutters needed. BTW, you would need the right quality and size of bolt-cutter(48") or the blades just mush and dent thus rendering them useless.

This should deter your average crack-addled paint huffer. Given a few minutes a determined professional will get your ride unless it is locked up in a building... and perhaps not even then is it really safe.

Nah all you need is some cheap nylon rope, just attach previous failed attempts on the rope, a pair of ears eyeballs wrists fingers, a heart , genitails a skull...
