Speaking of chicken...
Friend of mine said, "You'll get about 1,000 miles out of a set of tires."
Uh... so... if that's true, how the flock am I supposed to go on nice long(ish) road trips?
I've noticed a "fair" amount of wear at 1,200 miles (Dunlops). I know how to gauge the wear of my tires, but I must ask, What whould I expect out of the tires that came on my R6? Does Yamaha cheap-out like Jeep did with my "Wrangler ATs"? ( I would assume they do )

I ride a 600cc GSXR but I have a friend on an R1, one on an R6 and one on a CBR. From what I have seen we are all using the same tires from the local honda yamaha dealership(well the R1's rear tire is bigger). And I know that I'm getting somewhere in the neighborhood of 5000 miles off a rear tire. And I heard similar from the R6 and the R1 riders. Front tire hasnt been replaced yet and I'm at the 10,000 mile mark.
Re: Ok...I know it's a dopey question, but...

The little thin piece of rubber on the tire that has never met the road. You can see it here by the direction arrow and the michelin man.

They should make a term for us cruiser riders... like "physically impossible to lean that far... strips". I guess we can compare the amount of scrapes on the underside of our frames instead!

Actually, if I lean my bike far enough onto the pegs (as in, squeezing my boot against the engine case) I can (and have) erase my chicken strips entirely. If you have floorboards you might not be so lucky.

Ok it's probably just me then. I can only lean so far until I hear that horrible SCHRUUUUUUUNGHHHHHHHH sound of the frame on pavement. Guess I'll stick to eating hamburgers.
