I didn't do it in a MSF course, but in the parking lot at church practicing twisties. Ran over a cone, (They say you go where you look. They ain't kidding, I was looking right at it.) dumped the bike at about 5 mph. I scraped a knee, but for the next two weeks my left side hurt from the shoulder to the hip. It got so bad I went to the hospital thinking I had broken some ribs. Nope. Just too old to bounce off asphalt.

One lady in my class slid out during a turn, skidded across the parking lot into the dirt. A few scratches and hurt pride, but she got back on and passed (although with a new bike as the other one was damaged). Had a few people drop their bikes...it happens!

Sorry to hear about your little adventure there, and I agree with the other sentiments better to have happened on the course than out in the street. Look at this way, everyone has to drop their bike sometime and you not only got it out of the way, but it was the schools bike!
We had three people drop thier bikes or lose control whichever way you want to look at it in my MSF course. Either way the end result was biker and bike separated and rider on the ground with wounded pride. They all made it through the evaluation fine.
I know they let you come back and do the evaluation, but what about running through the course beforehand. When do you think you'll be all healed up?

They told me to take my time and come back when I was ready, they said I could take some practice runs with other groups beforehand and then take the evaluation. I figure 3-4 weeks of heal time. 1 week in cast at 90 degree angle, another week in straight flexible cast, then week of rehab/physical therapy. Just goes to show there is no such thing as a minor crash.

Sorry to hear that and glad to hear you are gonna get back on the horse. If you're open to constructive criticism it sounds like maybe you were a bit tight on the front brake or maybe going a bit too fast. For that particular exercise you can be a little heavy on the back brake... you might skid just a little but that doesn'r hurt. Locking the back tire is preferable to locking the front, which, as you know, makes the bike go down! Hell, it's probably good to lock the back brake up in a controlled exercise from time to time just so you know where that happens and what it feels like.
