Your old ZZR was alot more comfortable than today's crop of superbikes. A surefire way to get really sore really fast is to go touring on a sportbike just as soon as you buy it. You have to build your muscles up for that kind of thing or you'll be putting Ice on your tired arms and back every night during your tour!

You might want to check out the current crop of sport-touring bikes that are out there. They have the speed and cornering, but are alot more forgiving in the comfort area.

I rode a Honda VFR over the weekend (a nice silver '02 model) that seemed to be an excellent combination of sport bike qualities with a much more comfortable riding position that the average sport bike. This one was equipped with a nice luggage package for touring, yet it handled the curves like a true sportsbike. The guy who owned it had put 40,000 miles on it, most of them touring the western U.S. and Canada.
