Are there ads like this in the US?
No.
If not, why not?
A lot of people (In the US) are of the mindset that bikers = scum of the earth and that they should be rid of.
That and the government has to finance a pointless war. They can't be protecting their citizens while they're having them killed at the same time. That's just ludicrous!

The scary part is the biker gets hurt while the guy in the car walks away.
Ride defensive!

Yes they should have shown the biker get up and dust himself off having worn proper gear, and the driver die of a heart attack from guilt.
I think the goverment protecting/killing comment was an anti-war thing. Wrong thread!
I do think a couple people missed the point of the ad and got caught up in technical details...I think its more effective when the driver clearly doesn't see the biker. We are in effect seeing what the driver is seeing, and he's completely oblivious to the fact that a motorcycle is on the road...which is why WE, the viewer, don't see it until impact.
And yes the first time I saw it my heart got to racing!

No, they should have the motorcyclist in view the first time to show how dumb some cagers are.

That's how I took the whole thing as well. The point is, sometimes as motorists, we literally "don't see" a motorcyclist. It's important to look more than once to be certain that we are seeing things accurately. I don't think cagers, including myself when I'm in the car, are just stupid - sometimes our brains just don't take in every detail all of the time. I believe the point of the message was to take an additional look around at intersections.
Cheers,
Loonette

I think that SuperRookie has it right, don't disect a good message. The fact that NO ONE ever takes the time to look, is the message.
I found this little tidbit from the site more interesting...

Darn right!!
Due to the fact that occasionally some other "motorist" will not see me and start to pull out, only to be suprised, when I'm in my pickup. (It's huge by the way, think rolling billboard) I just assume they don't see me on the bike.
Believe it or not the first person to almost pull out into me was another bike! You would think a BIKER would know to look for bikes, but I suppose that would only be in a perfect world.

point well taken I ride in n.j. and as anyone who rides here knows stop signs really mean slow down roll through and turn signals are a waste as they only serve to let someone know where you are going so they can cut you off sooner so be careful this year out there

That scared the hell out of me!
That AD should be a world wide release!
