According to insurance statistics. Chances are that that bike will be totalled WITHIN 24 months. The insurance reflects the likelihood that they'll be paying the bank for a useless hunk of metal and plastic.
Most new riders will have a minor drop or slow speed "oops" within 1 to 3 years. All the plastic on the race styled bikes is EXPENSIVE to replace. If you make it thru that honeymoon period, most riders are then wreck free for years and years.

ya sounds about right. ive been checking whos gonna give me the cheapest insurance for my 2ed bike and its amazing how low it is. Makes sense though, a 650 dual sport from the 90s with no comprehensive and no accidents in the last three years im findin quotes for 432, and 416 a year. Which is amazing i think sence it was only 3 years ago i was paying 1800 a year to insure my first cage as a 16 year old. Man i love bike insurance, so much cheaper

I've been riding more years than I like to tell and I've always used RIDER.
The rates are good and they are very easy to deal with if you have an accident. You can find their ads in most motorcycle magazines.
Give them a call.
True about Rider Ins. I plan my ZX-6R in May and have been shopping around. So far rider is the best for me. For full coverage, Fire-theft-comp and collision they want $755.00 for the year. First payment $188.00 then 3 more with in 6 months to pay off the year. Im 47 with no accidents or points ever. Go Rider...
Hey bubba, maybe it's the machine you ride that makes it so cheep?? Rider was the best price for me, I went to AIG for a quote and they were out of there minds, for same ZX-6R and same coverage as Rider they were above $1200.00 . I'm going with Rider.
Yea, all these "big" car insurance companies want outrageous amounts of money to insure a bike, for me anyway. Just for comparison purposes, I always picked the minimum. Geico wanted over $800 while Rider wanted only $240, yearly prices btw. I will probably get better insurance, since Rider was so low with minimum coverage.
I hear ya about car insurance companys. I found the same to be true. Some of the guys that ride here were able to get bike insurance through places that do not usually do bike insurance but only if they were useing them for like car or renters or home owners insurance first. They got pretty good deals to. I have to take the full, I mean I want full insurance because my bike will be a new ZX-6R when I get it in May.

K9: A 2004 Yamaha Midnight Silverado @ $15000 new is NOT a cheap bike. Maybe it's because I'm an old fart with a good driving record who doesn't pull wheelies down the highway.
