Just remember the KLR wont have the power that your ninja had. They are supposed to be able to do 75-80mph all day though, and still tear up trails almost as good as a dedicated dirt bike. A lot of people actually do tour on KLRs, guess that 7 gallon fuel tank is good for super slab runs too.

I think im gonna get a KLR650. I know, its a n00b bike with less power than my old ninja. Though i think its perfect. i like the look of it. and i feels great to sit on. i like the ruggedness of it. i think it will be cool to ride the fire roads in the local mtns. Plus all the addons and cool things for it are awesome. Anyone have or used to have one of these. Whats your opions and reviews of em. Thanks

Head over to Motorcycle-USA forums and start a thread with KLR650 in the title... you'll hear a lot of good stuff about the bike. It goes anywhere in any weather.
Check out these cool custom side cases (made from ammunition cans)

Sorry, but those are not ammunition cans. They are what we call "hay boxes", they are what hot food/coffee is served up from at military field units. Like a big "thermos" container. They should have a fat rubber gasket where the lid clamps down, to make a seal to keep the internal temperature stable. This is a plus since it will make your "panniers" weather proof.
