Quick question, does the 599 and the F4i have the same engine? If it does it shouldn't be carburated.

I finally got around to checking - it is carburated, not FI. Just because they use the engine from one bike does not mean all the things are from that certain bike. My bike has another old Kaw engine, but nothing else is from the other bike, and my Carbs and intakes are only from my bike.

If memory serves the 599 uses a detuned (wouldn't that be normal?) 93 or 98 (depending upon the year of 599) CBR model engine. With smaller carbs fitted, and a remapped ignition sequence.

It's great, it has a nice linear power distribution, with a plateau at about 10k rpms, that doesn't ever really drop off.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

My F4i is about the same, but once you hit 10 grand you better start holding on. :o

Platuea (sp?) means it levels off, and stops gaining power. While yours starts off slow and hits some serious power above about 9k, mine comes on strong to about 10k, and then levels out. It's almost like a v-twin, but with a little more power overall.
