About 40 Farenheit for a high today, supposed to be about 18 or 20 for an overnight low. and only about 35 for tomorrow's high. That's the coldest its been in the Portland metro area all winter. Also, strong east winds out of the Columbia River gorge forecast to have gusts up to 45 mph. OK, now we are talkin cold. I was riding most of the afternoon on Sunday, but its just too cold now.

Suck it up you wussy Albertans.

Back in 1973, in Pine point (NWT) just a wee bit North of you, the thermometer dipped below -20F in November, stayed there and snuck up to -10F for a day in early March before taking a nose dive for another two weeks, as I recall. I know. I happened to be there.

So-o-o-o-o-o-o-o You got it pretty good this winter to be sure.

A couple days back we broke the 50 F mark, which was plenty warm for a few hour ride. Now the high for today was 16 F. Things change quick around here. By Wednesday this week we should be back at mid 40s and I might try to get out again.

Tough talk from the freakin coast......

But I can't argue that this winter has been pretty easy weather-wise. And I sure as hell ain't gonna complain about it..... right up until the temp drops to -30 or so. Then I go into full bitchn' moan mode. If I'm gonna be miserable, so is everybody else within earshot.

15 years ago, I spent my winters in and around Zama Lake. -60 at night and -50 in the day, for weeks at a time.... pullin' wrenches in an unheated tin building.... people wonder why I am like this now, I claim that's why.

Spent 2 weeks in Tuktyuktuk once..... there is a reason they call it 'Tuk'. Rymes with Fu**......

Has it been relatively mild up in Canada too?

We had *no* winter down here from December to January. I was able to ride four or five days out of seven. February has started out weird - Wednesday it was 65F and today....23F....

Mild? You bet. We had so much rain in January and February with temps up around 10 or 12 C.
It finally stopped raining about a week ago and we've had glorious sunshine ever since. Cold nights and early mornings...if you can call minus 1 or 2 cold.....but warms up in the afternoons so that you don't even need a jacket.
