I bought a 2004 ninja 250 used in 2004 with about 1500 miles on it for only $2500,00. If you can find a newer one go for it, if you can't, value is totally between you and the seller. If you want it and it seems in good shape and he wont take any less, buy it.

Nothing wrong with wanting to hold out for an above-average price. It's probably a smart move on that gal's part. Since the Ninja 250 is a popular starter bike for noobs, she'll probably be able to sell it for $1100 to someone that doesn't know any better. It's a good strategy if you don't need to sell right away.
I know a guy that sells airplanes to uninformed noob pilots. If you call him and ask knowledgable questions about a plane he has for sale, he'll just hang up on you. No kidding!

It's a pretty wide range. An old 2 seat Cessna in reasonable shape can run $18K. High end business jets can be in the $20 million ballpark.
