Personally I hate both the look and feel of floorboards, so I vote for moving around the pegs.

I also say you should stay with floor board. Don't worry they are a lot of products out there that will fit you need. There are range from very expensive to cheap custom made by individual who love V-Star. Check here http://zivney.net/Products.htm for another example of product you can modify your V-Star. It is quality, cheap and by a person who also ride V-Star.

Also check http://forums.delphiforums.com/sgmfa/start, this is where the place V-Star 650 Classic and Custom hang out. You can get more idea or ask questions there.

you could also look into engine guards and highway pegs. Although you'll need to keep you feet on the floorboards when shifting or breaking, you'll be able to stretch out on the long cruises.

the brackets that move the controls forward are nice, I am planning on doing this pretty quicky with my savage 650 when it comes, I'm not quites as tall as you but I bet the savage is quite a bit smaller than the vstar, sat on both and it felt that way, well at least with the extra tank width.

I think the vstar is almost a foot longer, but a lot of that is fender/tire no doubt. The wheel base is about 5-6 inches less on the savage. So I bet those extra 4 inches the kit would give you would make a world of difference if you're a tall dude. congrats on the bike!
