Don't forget that just because you hit your first maint it doesn't mean you should redline your bike. You're still working in the engine, that's just about the point most of the metal shavings will be caught by the filter. This doesn't mean you need to baby it, but it does mean that you will want to avoid relining it. And to be totally honest, short of a track day, there's no reason to redline it. your HP will tend to drop off at about 1000-1500 rpms short of the redline.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

thanks.

also, red-lining wasn't my objective, my objective was only to see 1st gear above 6K rpms but not neccesarily red-lining.

Well first gear on my bike at just short of the redline 13000 rpms is just under 100kmh/ or 60mph. I'd be surprised if yours didn't go faster.

1st gear on mine gets me just under 90, His is probably close to that.

Verm, be careful with that thing, if you hit the throttle too hard it will shoot right up if you have the revs high enough.

LOL first gear on mine hits around 25mph @ 9000rpm which is where the power starts to drop off.

Had my bike up to highway speeds for the first time today. Was able to hold 75 into a really stiff headwind and going the other way with the tailwind I had to watch it to make sure it didn't creep up to 90.

Even cruising at 75 and the engine turning 7000rpm or so it was pretty smooth

thanks guys, i didn't know that power drops of even before red lining.

now this makes more sense to me...

http://www.motorbikes.be/en/Suzuki/2005/GSX-R%201000/

so basically my bike's power will drop of after 12K rpm eventhough my redline is at 13.5k-15k rpms.

oooh, so i guess my bike's full power will only show at 12K rpm. :D

For fastest acceleration you would want to shift just slightly above the RPM that you get your peak power at.

For your bike you would want to shift around 12,500 if you want max acceleration, just mind that front wheel, it will definately be wanting to come up

cool but unless i go to a race track, i probably won't have the chance to change gears at that high rpm. especially since even at 1st gear, i heard my bike can reach 98mph.

which makes sense since i heard the R1 can reach a little above 100mph in 1st gear. the R1 has 2hp more than the gixxer1000.

Go down a tooth on your back sprocket and you will hit 100mph in 1st too.

Easiest and safest way to test out its acceleration is to take it to a dragstrip
