Actually, the laws vary by state (in the U.S.). Some states require that only 1 party to the conversation be aware of the recording. Well I don't agree with that part of it. There is always publicity that will sometimes make a shop change their mind. I would ask for some of that money back, if they are unwilling, go to your local BBB and lodge a complaint. It would be a good idea to find out before admitting to a court that you may have broken the law.
