You're gonna replace the can and that's it? No suspension or anything?

And how is the can gonna make it better? I thought all a different can did was make it louder/quieter and maybe have a minor change in performance.

I guess if i HAD to have a I4, it'd be an MV Agusta.

There's something about twins that i like. But i also like the looks of some of the I4's. Than there's the I3's. There's also big bore thumpers. And boxter motors are kinda cool tool. GAH! Just give me one of each

Ducati... Gimme an ST3. Or maybe a 1000DS

Though that RSV is sexy.

The V-Twin sportbikes have a different "personailty" as it were. They have more low end and mid range power and are faster out of corners than a inline 4 sportbike, the inline catches the V-Twin at the end of the straight though. The V-Twin bikes are also narrower than an inline and tend to be more flickable.

On the racetrack the ducati 999 and 1000cc japanese bikes run just about dead even. Even honda ran a V-Twin superbike for a few years (the RC51).

On the street the V-Twin sportbikes have a lot more usable power than an inline sportbike. The Ducati or Aprilla will be in the sweet spot of their powerband sooner than your Gixxer would be, though your gixxer will be faster on the top end.

BTW if you have never heard a Ducati it most certainly does NOT sound like a harley. IMHO the sound of the Ducatis v-twin is about the meanest sounding motorcycle engine I have heard.

Have you ridden a late model GSX-R 1000 through some twisties?
The can is as ugly as sin. The change is simply cosmetic.
The bike is a weapon and to say any twin is better is ridiculous.

Personally I'm hoping to get a dirtbike sometime soon, I'd love to try that. And I wouldn't turn down a sport tourer, though I'm trying to set my bike up as one of those. I've done the cruiser thing, and thought that was for me, but after I tried a standard I was hooked. Don't limit yourself like that.

well, im not that shallow to try new things.

but if im gonna buy, then that's were i become shallow and very specific as i can since it's gonna be mine and im gonna be spending lots of money.

i wouldn't mine test riding/renting other kinds of bikes. i think it would be fun to try other kinds of bikes.

you should know by now that im very shallow on some of my criteria.

like i said, i like the sound of an inline 4 better than V twin, which i wasn't that aware when i was shopping for my bike. i almost bought an red/black '05 SV1000S.

good thing someone beat me to it and i got the red/black '06 gixxer1000 instead.

I gotta agree, given the choice between a screaming little girl and a rumbling bear, I'd take the v-twin. Of course my bike is quite enough that it doesn't matter what type of engine it has.

And you shouldn't base your purchase on what it sounds like.

yeah of course, i have other criteria like it must be a suzuki and it must be red/black.

i don't remember how i became a suzuki fanboy.

but even 3 yrs ago when i 1st thought of buying a bike. suzuki was the 1st website i checked. of course, never bought a bike back then since i didn't have my own car yet.

but i can't really remember what i saw that turned me on to suzuki bikes.

i mean if i had a ton of money, i'd buy one of each brand. but if i can only choose one. i'd go w/ a suzuki.
