How is the safety of this style helmet?

I figure it this way - it's GOT to be better than your chin hitting the pavement directly at that angle compared to the helmet hitting and the flip face popping up.
Yeah I imagine quite a bit of force will be lost by the time your bare chin grinds against the asphalt.
