I had mine delivered; mainly becuase there was snow on the ground.
But even if it had been nice out, I probably would have gone for that option anyway -- I've been off the road for 5 years and need to hit a parking lot for a few hours, then my neighborhood, then go from there.

Does it cost money to have it delievered from a dealership? Or can you get them to throw that in?

This would depend on the distance I suppose, but I think they should do it as a courtesy. It might take them a while to do it though. My guys need a week from the day I bought it until they could get it to my house.

The person I bought my bike from brought it over to my house in the back of their truck.
There was several inches of snow on the ground at the time
Had the ground been clear I probably would have just ridden the mile or so

Cool. All good to know...but if its between getting it delievered and having to wait a week, or driving it home that day, I think i'll have to take my chances in traffic! Been waiting too long to wait another week...I should have pictures tomorrow, assuming the rain doesn't delay it until Sunday.

I had *zero* experience, and bought my first bike used from a private seller. The seller rode it to my house for me after I paid him for it, and I drove him back to his home.
A large used bike dealer quoted $150 to deliver a bike to my house, about 40 miles one way. Not a bad deal. I bet a dealer might deliver a brand-new bike as part of the purchase. Even with the MSF under your belt, I'd hesitate to drive it in traffic, it took me awhile to become comfortable with speeds over 25mph, but I'm wimpier than your average biker.
Hope you enjoy your EX250, I believe you made a very good choice.

Evryone is different.
Personally, I took the MSF first then I had my Ninja 250 delivered. Then, I rode it 2 blocks (sidestreets, no mainstreets) to a parking lot and practiced in there for hours. I was REALLY glad that I did it that way. I would have been freaked out to ride in traffic right away.
But, if you took the MSF and you have a good beginner bike like a 250, there is nothing wrong with riding it into traffic right off the lot if you are confident and comfortable. I wasn't. If you are NOT comfortable or confident and you have any kind of trepidation, I think you should have it delivered too. Or, as others have said, get a more-experienced friend to ride it for you and save a few bucks on the delivery.
