Satin black is the new black, so they tell me. ('they' sure have alot to answer for when some one finally figures out who 'they' are)
Mine is now a pretty shade of null, 'cept the wheels, which are still white and stick out like a hard-on in church.... Rust-oleum Rocks

Cool...did you leave/paint the frame silver? His frame shows due to the lack of side farings (he may end up getting some at JC whitney). I think it will look okay, but it leaves plug wires, and brake/clutch cables exposed because they ran outside the frame under the faring. We can probably re-route them. The main harness for the front faring is run outside, too and it has no easy disconnects to allow re-routing it. Maybe when we get the tank off it will reveal a way. I thought painting the frame dark grey or black would hide all that, but I don't think Chris likes that idea. If he gets the farings, it's moot, anyway. Meanwhile, the sanding continues!

Deja-vu......
I got a big sheet layed down and plastic hanging on the walls in the backroom and 3 inches of sanding dust on everything. The wife just loves it....
I yanked all the bodywork I could off my GSXR, too. The frame under the body panels is flatblack from some pastlife misadventure, but anything that showed was polished bright.

I hate chrome, the only thing worse is polished aluminum..... so it will be black too. I kicked the 'grey' thing for the frame around for awhile.... this particular moment it's out.... but that can change at anytime. I think the wheels need to be black too.... maybe silver.... something beside the white they are now.
Once the tank is off, you should be able to hide most of the wiring and cables. My cables are all too long to begin with, but when the MX bars go on, they will be about right.... finding brake hoses long enough is going cost more than I'd like though......

Lighting is still a big blank spot in my plans......... not sure what I'm going to put on there.....

Chris did some "experimental" painting today, and I just finished wet sanding it down to many, many colors. He's kindof using paint as primer because the old paint was so ridiculous, with runs and all. Some college guys went a little nuts with black enamel rattlecans. I've sanded all of that out (including the old stickers, yes stickers, under the paint, and paint on the windscreen) and the front faring and rear side panels are ready for primer tomorrow if he wants to. He's asleep now and doesn't know it yet, but his project just warped ahead by at least a day. I asked him if he wanted me to "do some sanding" and he said, "sure" right before he fell asleep. When he gets up for work in 30 minutes, he'll be pleasantly surprized. The tank will be last, just to keep the metal covered until the last possible moment. Lots of work left, but lots of potential, too!

Ssssooooo...... paint comes in formats other than rattle cans? Oohh, you do go on.....
But if you wanted to do some more sanding, we could work something out......

Yes, paint can be applied with a brush, too...

Or just dumped on from a can...

The guys Chris bought this from didn't believe in sanding at all...There is actually grass on the gas tank from where they put it on the ground to "paint" it, then slapped it right back on...
Thanks for the sanding offer, but I think I'll pass

You guys are much more dedicated to restoration than me.

My bike has a damaged fairing, some scratched paint, and could use a good cleaning, but hey - it runs. I'll clean it when I can't ride it.

There is no way what I am doing to that poor bike can be considered 'restoration'.... not by any stretch of the imagination....

How about "Ratification"?

That is exactly the word I used when describing what I was doing to the wife.... she asked where I was attaching the tail....
