I'm not sure if I would do it even if it were legal out here, just sounds chancy to me. Do you have the R1, My bud and I are going together the same day to get our bikes in May, he is buying the 06/ R1 / Blue and I the ZX- 6R / Lime Green. How do you like the R1.

Lane splitting is legal here and all the bikers do it all the time. The cage drivers know this and some are aware. We do tend to make a nuisance of ourselves though, bright clothes, hazards going, full brights and using the horn. We can get jammed up badly on our highways and we have a lot of bikes and scooters used for deliveries. Every couple of years someone starts trouble like lane blocking but the hard core bikers soon sort this out.

OK I see now that VermilionX has the Suzuki. Thanks for all the details on lane splitting. I was also wondering what the bikers do to "Sort Things Out" when the cagers start lane blocking.

oh i didn't even think you were asking me. yeah i ride a gixxer1000 K6 and i love it. my riding buddy has an R1.
when they try to lane block and i can't squeeze in then i just stop splitting. you just can't win against cars and trucks.
oh well, at least we riders have scooters and mopeds to bully around.

Sorting it out typically involves things like steel toed boots into door panels, and side mirrors. You probably don't want to ride to close to someone who is willing to put a foot into your car doing 100.

that's just bad karma waiting to happen there. i really don't wanna get into fights and confrontations w/ cars and trucks. like i said, you just can't win unless i happen to be packing one of my babies w/ me...
my kimber eclipse target II .45 ACP.
anyway, mark loves his R1 but he also has a turbo charged EVO (lucky guy).
he hasn't been riding as much as he used to after his accident. he got clipped by a truck and the driver hit and run. but he's riding a little more now since i met him and he thanked me for that.

Ah, I see you are like me, a 45 man. I have an insurance policy also, it's my Sig 1911 GSR. Best insurancy policy man can have. I agree with you though, I do not look for trouble. But god help ya if you are trouble and you call on me. OK on mark and his R1, sorry to hear about the crash. Keep him riding if ya can. The R1s are very nice machines. My buddy is ready to get his today, he can't wait but he is waiting for me to get my ZX-6R in May. He is a 45 man also. We both plan on a weeks vacation from work to get used to our new rides. It should be memorable...
