Paying 100$ for rubber is way too expensive.


A engine rebuild cost much more than that. If the old ones are leaking, this can cause the engine to run lean, and hot and burn something, like, say a piston, or valve. I have seen good used ones on Ebay for about 1/4 the cost of new if you want to go that route. I know someone who had a bad valve, and we figured it was probably from a leaking intake rubber.

Could also use black Permatex on 'em. I hear that works well.

I just replace 'em if they look real bad. $100 or so in fine for peace of mind, in my opinion.
