Well, you're in the right place. Read some of the stickies at the top of the new biker's forum. The fact that you WANT a good, cheap beginner's bike and some training puts you light years ahead of 80% of the people who come here. Most want to know whether to buy a GSX-R750 or if they should splurge and buy the 1000 instead...

As for good starter bikes there's usually 3 we recommend.

The Suzkuki GS500
The Kawasake EX 250 & EX 500 (Ninja)

All are lower powered and very forgiving.

Thanx :). I have a friend who had this decently small 1982 honda that he just sold for a few hunddred dollars.. i should bought it from him.. I'll just save up and get a EX250 or something of the like sometime this summer..
