effeminate?
ok, i didn't get that impression.
but at least it's not as effeminate as the miata.
anyway... it looks cool enough to me and that's what matters more. the only thing i like better from my integra was the moon roof. this MX6 only has sun roof.
now, i just have to wait until i can get another bike. my funds are dried up right now.
my dad said he'll help me make a down on the bike after a few months. so i'll just wait. fall is my fav season. i hope i get a new bike by fall.

The style issue is entirely subjective. If its style is nice to you then that is all that is important. My point of view is different but I'm not the one buying the car so my opinion can be freely accepted or ignored.
What I really wanted to get across however was the reliability and maintenance costs. That old mx-6 might be more than you'd bargain for. I've previously owned 2 late model mazdas each close to 10 years old and the common denominator among the two was leaking seals on the engine where oil had to be put into the engines to keep it at a normal level. That isn't cheap to fix. Others experiences might vary but I think a person would get more value for their dollar getting a 10+ year old stock civic or corolla or sentra with average mileage and a decent inspection from a mechanic that'll be able to say the car was maintained properly. Another plus I'd say is to go for a car that has a manual transmission, less repair costs and one less headache (usually) to worry about. Automatic transmissions problems are some of the more common issues people have with older cars across many makes. They're also potentially expensive to repair, especially where quality rebuilds are concerned.
I'll be honest though and I could be wrong, but I see that you're putting greater emphasis on style than function or utility. That sounds like a risky way to think in your apparent financial situation. Still though, I wish you luck and hope you find something reliable.

the car is manual trans. that's one of the things i made sure i want to get.
i've seen other cars that i like but auto so i didn't buy them. the only wayi'd buy an auto trans is if i was getting a truck.
well, anyway... here's to hoping i only do normal maintenance on it.

after i asked about what to do regarding the court case i won, i inquired about the bike theft claim if my car accident adjuster had info on it.
she did have something on the computer system.
it said they sent a check to the lienholder for the remaining money i owe, about $8000.
BUT it also says there that there's only $2000 something left that will go to me.
WTF!? only $2000? i made $5000 down payment plus i paid 4 monthly payments of $150.
bike was sold to me for $10,600... but taxes, registration, warranties it went up to $13,000.
i still haven't gotten hold of my bike theft adjuster but this looks messed up. i thought i was all set and ready to get a new bike since im fully covered and even had GAP insurance.
but from what it looks right now, i'll lose almost $4000 on this claim. that sounds F'ed up.
if this doesn't change, i'll never be able to replace the bike.
i really hope things turn out different once i get to talk to my adjuster.
I havent been here for months and whats the first thing I read lol

Insurance is one of the biggest scams going. Their main goal is to collect as much as possible in premiums while paying out as little as possible in claims. When it comes time to pay the claim, they try to cut corners everywhere they can. The worst part about it is you HAVE to have insurance to legally operate a motor vehicle on the highways.

I dont know why so many people have such a distorted view of their finances...things are just more complicated than paying the monthly bills. People are so concerned with how much they pay monthly on a car or whatever, they dont even look at the actual 'cost'. I'm not talking about just insurance costs and gear, etc...I mean interest paid over long-term loans, depreciation costs including wear and tear, down payments (which do nothing but lower your total interest paid), taxes+fees that will never be recooperated, accidents/thefts/insurance are all about risk management.
When you finance a vehicle you take a huge up-front risk. As you pay on the vehicle and as time goes on, your level of risk decreases. People need to look at their upfront risk and ask themselves..."If I am squashed by a semi driving out of the dealer parking lot, can I afford what I just dumped on this vehicle and afford to buy another one?"
Most people dont...they get excited about a new car and they say, "well, I can afford $300 a month to cover the costs of owning this...I can afford it!" Wrong.
Your bike just got stolen, you took a huge financial hit. Your car is totalled, you still have to buy a new one of those. You dont have confidence in your job, and you are 25 years old. No, you can't afford your dream bike. You couldn't afford the dream bike you already bought (hence your current situation). You are barely out of high school and already you want the best stuff...maybe you should work on building your life first.
As others have said, if you want to keep riding, get a cheap bike you can afford.
I've been down that road before.
This is the best post in this thread, and it's great advice.
Financing something like a motorcycle is plain dumb, IMO. You end up paying for the bike x2 by the time the loan is paid off.
The only thing worth financing is a home, and MABYE a car.
.
Financing ANY "luxury" Item is foolish. Whether it be a TV or motorcycle.
Some will say a motorcycle is their sole means of transpostation, therefore NOT a luxury. However any NEW bike IS a luxury if you cannot pay cash for it. IF you only have $3000 then buy the 250 Ninja. Don't use it as a down payment. You will be able to sell the 250 for $2500 in a year or so as you save for a bigger bike.
Good things take time. When you are debt free you will be surprised at how much money gets piled up. Its financing in reverse. NOthing has quite the feeling of being able to take a wad of cash to some buy a bike at YOUR price while other lookers are trying to get financed.
It's not rocket science. EIther you can afford the WHOLE bike or you can't.
IF you learn this lesson at 20 years old. You will have a home paid for and have no debt and when you are 45 or so years old you will have the freedom to chose to work at Wal Mart if you want and have a nice home, car bike boat, plasma TV and OWE NO ONE NOTHING. I did exactly that.
DId I go without bikes cars, TVs, and toys? . NOPE. BUT I had em all. They were not new though (Still never bought a new car). IF I financed it was only for a short period and usually only 50% of the cost.
Freedom of choice to work places without regard to PAY. Thats real freedom. IF you marry and have a kid it's still possible.
ITs not how much you make that determines your financial freedom Its how much you owe. As said a truly rich man is the man who needs the least.

Good advice King.
But I can't think of anyone who would want to work at WalMart.
